Rajshahi: Speakers at a participatory meeting today unanimously stressed the need for making all public services transparent and accountable for the welfare of service recipients. Simultaneously, ensuring good governance in service deliveries in both public and private sectors can be the crucial means of building a disparity-free, happy, and prosperous Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, government officials and others concerned shared these observations while addressing a stakeholders meeting to ensure good governance at the office conference hall of Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner. The meeting, chaired by the Commissioner of Rajshahi Division, Khandaker Azim Ahmed, was also addressed by additional commissioners Tarafder Muhammad Akter Jamil and Habibur Rahman, as well as the chief executive officer of Rajshahi Development Authority, Abu Hayat Rahmat Ullah.

In his remarks, Commissioner Azim Ahmed emphasized that good behaviour, honesty, timeliness, discipline, transparency, and accountability in all service delivery points are essential for ensuring good governance. He also highlighted the importance of social movements and resistance against corruption in public services as crucial means of establishing disparity-free environments in society.

The commissioner further noted the necessity of spontaneous participation from the community and the younger generation in the anti-corruption campaign to build mass opinion against corruption. Around 30 participants, including government officials, development activists, business leaders, valiant freedom fighters, members of civil society, and journalists, joined the meeting to share their views on how they can contribute to the process of establishing good governance.
