Dhaka: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam today emphasized that the benefits of projects funded by public money must be made available to the people, underscoring the importance of transparency and accountability throughout every stage of project execution. She made these remarks during a meeting focused on reviewing the implementation progress of the Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) for April under the 2025-26 fiscal year, held at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism in the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to an official handout.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the urgency of completing the remaining tasks of ongoing projects promptly, following directives from the Prime Minister. She further stressed the necessity of conducting thorough feasibility assessments before initiating any new projects within the aviation and tourism sectors.
Minister Khanam pointed out the critical role of effective planning, stating that no infrastructure or facility should be developed without a well-defined action plan. She also instructed the relevant authorities to adopt a more cautious and responsible approach in overseeing contractors’ activities and monitoring project implementation progress.
Emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability, the minister directed officials to ensure strict supervision at all levels to guarantee that public funds are utilized effectively for the people’s welfare. The meeting was chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Fahmida Akhtar. It was attended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmud Siddiqui, senior ministry officials, CAAB representatives, and directors of various ongoing projects.
