Dhaka: The government has appointed Advocate Azizur Rahman Dulu as the Special Public Prosecutor to oversee the high-profile Ramisa murder case on behalf of the state. This case will be presented before the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal, a newly established tribunal specifically designed to handle cases involving violence against children.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a gazette notification from the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division confirmed that the appointment was made for Case No. 35 of Pallabi Police Station. This case is currently pending before the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal, and Dulu’s appointment signifies the government’s intent to ensure a robust legal process.
The decision to appoint a special prosecutor follows a statement by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who assured the public that the harshest penalty for Ramisa’s murderer would be secured within the next month. This move highlights the government’s commitment to delivering justice swiftly.
Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman also expressed the government’s dedication to a prompt trial. He assured media personnel at a workshop in the capital that the case would be resolved in the shortest possible time, reflecting the administration’s focus on expediting judicial processes in sensitive cases such as this one.
