Dhaka: The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have announced a temporary restriction on public entry into the campus to ensure security during the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Union Elections-2025.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this measure is scheduled to be enforced from 8 PM on September 8 to 6 AM on September 10, coinciding with the DUCSU election date of September 9.
During this period, the main entry points to the university-Shahbagh, Palashi, Doel Chattar, Shib-bari Crossing, Fuller Road, Udayan School, and Nilkhet-will be closed to the general public. Only individuals with valid university ID cards, including teachers, students, officers, and staff, will be permitted to enter the campus within the specified timeframe. Additionally, family members of university teachers, officers, and staff can gain entry by presenting a photocopy of the relevant ID card.
The administration has stated that only vehicles with valid university stickers and those involved in emergency services, such as ambulances, doctors, patient transport, law enforcement, journalists, and fire service vehicles, will be allowed campus access. All other vehicles will be strictly prohibited during this period.
University authorities have urged all students, teachers, officers, and staff to carry their respective ID cards throughout the election period. Family members of university personnel who are neither students nor staff and need to enter the campus for emergencies must obtain a security pass from the Proctor's Office.
