DHAKA Water Resources Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar has made a proposal for setting up a permanent secretariat of the Delta Coalition in the capital (Dhaka) to facilitate the exchange of Delta management technology, knowledge and experience.
He proposed to this end at the two-day 4th Ministerial Conference of the Delta Coalition held on October 28-29 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, an official release said here today.
A seven member team headed by State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque joined the Ministerial Conference, it added.
The Delta Coalition (DC) is the world's first international coalition of governments that have formed a partnership to deal with integrated management and sustainable development of the Deltas, according to the web-site sources.
Later, the Executive Director of The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) presented the detailed terms of reference in this regard. To expedite the process of setting up the secretariat, the Member States were requested to provide further information regarding the terms of reference.
Establishment of Delta Coalition Secretariat in Bangladesh will help implement of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100.
