Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today accused the Awami League of engaging in propaganda to obscure allegations of assets laundering in London by its leaders, including former land minister Saifuzzaman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi stated that money allegedly looted by Awami League leaders under the guise of development projects has been illicitly transferred abroad. He asserted that the ongoing propaganda efforts are intended to divert attention from these alleged misdeeds, particularly in light of the Chief Advisor's visit to London.
Rizvi further elaborated on the potential significance of an upcoming meeting in London between Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He suggested that the discussions might influence the forthcoming national elections, as well as contribute to electoral reforms and the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh.
He also criticized Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, claiming that her leadership has led to the establishment of fascism in the country over the past 16 years. Rizvi emphasized the importance of the anticipated meeting between Professor Yunus and Tarique Rahman in this political context.
