Programmes to observe Victory Day in Khulna

Khulna district administration is set programmes to celebrate December 16 the 45th anniversary of the Bangalees glorious victory over the Pakistani occupation forces, pledging to establish a non-communal prosperous and developed Bangladesh.

To observe the day, elaborate programmes has been taken up at a meeting on November 15 in the conference room of deputy commissioner office.

Elites, officials, educationists, journalists, political and cultural

activists of the city attended in the meeting.

The programme of the day placing of wreaths on the monument of Shaheed

martyrs of Gallyamari after the sunrise on December 16.

The day will be heralded by a 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Line Ground.

Khulna divisional commissioner Md. Abdus Samad will be hoisting the

national flag at Khulna Zilla School Ground and will take salute from the parade.

Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competitions for children on the occasion.

A discussion meeting and an honour reception programme to the freedom

fighters will be held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner office.

Hoisting of national flags atop of all public and private buildings at

dawn and placing of wreaths by the people of all walks of life at the

Gallyamary monument on the day.

Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions, seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country.

Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and

jail to mark the day.

State-run Khulna Betar will be broadcast special programmes while the

local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.

Khulna BISIC will organize two days handicraft fair at Khulna Public

hall from December 15. A discussion meeting on life and sketch of Bir

Shreshtha Ruhul Amin will held at Rupsha Ghat area on December 17.

Khulna city and district unit Awami League have been chalked out month

long programmes to observe the victory day.

The programmes include hoisting of national and party flag and to pay

tribute at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh

Muzibur Rahman, flowrel wreath at the Gallamary martyrdom memorial and

discussion meeting.

Khulna University, Khulna University and Engineering Technology (KUET),Khulna Press Club, Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ), 1971: Genocide and Tortured Archive Museum and different socio-cultural and political parties will observe the victory day in befitting manner.
