Dhaka: Professor Dr A T M Zafrul Azam of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry under the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Dhaka has been appointed as the treasurer of National University (NU). His appointment follows the order of President Mohammed Shahabuddin and is made under section 14 (1) of the National University Act, 1992, for a tenure of four years from the date of joining, as announced by a notification from the Ministry of Education today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification specifies that Professor Azam will receive a monthly remuneration and will enjoy other benefits associated with the position as per the rules. He is required to reside on the university campus full-time and will fulfill duties as prescribed by the statutes and laws of the university. These responsibilities will also be conferred by the vice-chancellor.
Furthermore, the president, who is also the chancellor of the universities, retains the authority to revoke this appointment if deemed necess
ary. The order has been issued in public interest.
