Beijing: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has emphasized the necessity of constructing a new world by applying a framework of novel thoughts. In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) during his recent visit to China, Yunus explained that efforts to sustain the old world will not succeed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser suggested that the new world should be developed through a new thinking framework, aligned with the structure and theory essential for this envisioned world. Yunus highlighted China’s readiness to support Bangladesh, particularly regarding the reform agenda of his interim government. He acknowledged the substantial support from the Chinese government, businesses, and citizens, describing it as both necessary and joyful.
Reflecting on poverty, Yunus recounted his observations of rural women’s poverty in China from a decade ago, noting its universal nature. He stressed recognizing people’s creativity and supporting them institutionally as a means to combat poverty. He affirmed that microcredit empowers individuals and can significantly transform their lives.
Addressing similarities between his ‘Three Zero Theory’ and President Xi Jinping’s modernisation theory, Yunus noted the alignment and expressed a shared intent to articulate these ideas differently. He reported successful discussions with President Xi, affirming Bangladesh’s need for support, which China is willing to provide.
Yunus sees potential for economic and trade progress, citing preliminary discussions with Chinese investors interested in exploring new opportunities in Bangladesh. He envisions leveraging the friendship with China to build a new Bangladesh, particularly as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. The interim government aims to strengthen these ties through Yunus’s visit, which included meetings with state and professional leaders.
Professor Du of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, who is collaborating on a microcredit project for rural women’s betterment in China, accompanied Yunus during the interview. Yunus concluded with an assurance from China to support Bangladesh in any situation.
