Dhaka: Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has welcomed the meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "significant moment" for Bangladesh-India relations. "Bangladesh is reclaiming its rightful place on the global stage with a sovereign and courageous foreign policy-one that is direct, focused, balanced, and nuanced," he stated in a post on his verified Facebook account.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ambassador expressed that it is encouraging to see that India, as a major neighboring country, is recognizing Bangladesh with a fresh approach and deeper understanding. The post further mentioned the ambassador's hope that the Indian government is realizing the will of the Bangladeshi people.
Mushfiqul emphasized the importance of diplomacy that strengthens regional ties and positions Bangladesh as an assertive and respected player in global affairs. He remarked that this was the kind of diplomacy that should be upheld. "The future is ours to shape," he added, highlighting the potential for improved bilateral relations.
The meeting between Prof Yunus and Modi took place on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, marking their first bilateral engagement.
