Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today urged the new generation to follow the ideals of noted poet, artist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and valiant Freedom Fighter Asad Chowdhury.
“The establishment of non-communal Bangladesh and working for the welfare of humanity are the ideals of poet Asad Chowdhury. The new generation should follow his ideals,” said Arefin, also the chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the state-run news agency.
The renowned academic Arefin Siddique came up with the call while addressing a memorial meeting on poet Asad Chowdhury, who died on October 5 last, organized by the Bangladesh Jatiya Gonotantrik League at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad Auditorium here as the chief guest.
Lion Md Gani Miah Babul, chairman of Bangabandhu Research Council, spoke as the main speaker in the event.
While presiding over the discussion, President of Bangladesh Jatiya Gonotantrik League M A Jalil recalled the colourful life and works of poet Asad and paid tributes to the late poet.
Several poets including Nahid Roksana (valiant freedom fighter), Asad Kajal, Masud Ahmed, Swapan Kumar Saha, M R Manju, Nahid Liza, and ASM Mustafa Kamal also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
Later, a poem was recited paying rich tributes to the memories of poet Asad Chowdhury.
