Dhaka: Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus announced on Thursday that “a new Bangladesh is born” as citizens of the nation cast their votes in the ongoing election, encouraging everyone to also participate in the referendum.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Prof Yunus made these remarks after casting his ballot at the Gulshan Model School and College center in the capital. He expressed that the day marked the “birthday of a new Bangladesh,” and urged citizens to celebrate this significant occasion. Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of the election as a means to discard the past and reject a previously difficult era, thereby seizing the opportunity to shape a renewed national identity.
Encouraging active civic engagement, the Chief Adviser appealed to all citizens to partake in the referendum and exercise their voting rights. He emphasized unity in this transformative phase, inviting everyone to collectively contribute towards building a new Bangladesh. Prof Yunus cast his vote amid heightened security measures at approximately 10:30 am.
The electoral process commenced at 7:30 am, with voters forming lines at polling stations nationwide, eager to elect their representatives.
