The farmers here are not able to plant Bhadaiya rice due to long drought, which will cause decline in its production.
Crop Conservation Officer at Agriculture Knowledge Centre in Bara, Raj Narayan Prasad, said the farmers had set the target to plant different verities of Bhadaiya rice in 11,905 hectares of land in the fiscal year 2080/81. But, only 10 per cent plantation is over till date because of long drought.
Although the area for planting the seedlings of Bhadaiya rice has decreased, area for the planting Agahani rice would be increased this year, he added.
Similarly, Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Jitendra Yadav, mentioned that the farmers had planted different verities of Bhadaiya rice in 11,905 hectares of land last year, which yielded by 4.3 per cent per hectare.
A farmer Gopal Das Bairagi of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolis-14 said they were in problem after not being able to plant rice seedlings following a scant rainfall.
