Chattogram:A comprehensive four-tier security shield has been established across Chattogram in preparation for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit on Tuesday, coinciding with the celebrations of the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, over 20,000 personnel from the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar, and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed under the coordination of the Special Security Force (SSF) to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister's visit and the region's approximately 2,600 worship pavilions.
The security measures include regular mobile patrols, plainclothes intelligence surveillance, special striking forces on standby, and direct emergency contacts posted at venues. Additionally, strict cyber monitoring is in effect across digital and social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumors, misinformation, or disruptions to communal harmony.
On the evening of his arrival, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the historic JM Sen Hall puja mandap in Rahmatganj to observe the festival and exchange greetings with the Hindu community. Senior officials, including Security Force Unit Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mostafizur Rahman and Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, inspected the JM Sen Hall venue to ensure airtight security arrangements.
Local leaders, such as Ershad Ullah, MP, and Zilla Parishad Chairman Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, have expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister's gesture of solidarity. They noted that the coordinated security measures have generated widespread enthusiasm and optimism for a peaceful and joyful conclusion to the festival.
