Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned to his residence in the capital after a busy day in Dinajpur. His Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu informed UNB that the Prime Minister departed from Saidpur Airport on a US-Bangla Airlines domestic flight around 9 pm, arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport approximately 50 minutes later. From there, Tarique Rahman proceeded to his residence in Gulshan.
According to United News of Bangladesh, earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated a free Wi-Fi service at Saidpur Airport. This initiative is part of the government's effort to enhance public services and extend digital connectivity at major public locations nationwide. He officially launched the service by scanning a Wi-Fi QR code at the airport in the evening.
During his journey from Dinajpur Circuit House to Saidpur Airport for his return to Dhaka, the Prime Minister visited Sheikh Farid Model Graveyard on the outskirts of Dinajpur town. There, he paid his respects at the graves of his grandfather Md Iskander Majumder, grandmother Taiba Majumder, and aunt Khurshid Jahan Haque.
The Prime Minister's journey began on Monday morning when he arrived at Saidpur Airport en route to Dinajpur to kick off a nationwide canal excavation and re-excavation programme. He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9:30 am and reached Saidpur Airport around 10:15 am. From there, he traveled by road to Dinajpur, where he inaugurated the programme by cutting soil with a spade at the Sahapara canal in Kaharole upazila.
Subsequently, he addressed a public rally near the Sahapara canal in Kaharole upazila of Dinajpur, organized jointly by the Water Resources Ministry and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In the evening, he participated in an iftar gathering and a views-exchange meeting with distinguished guests and political leaders at the Dinajpur Circuit House before flying back to Dhaka at night.
Prior to the iftar event, the Prime Minister distributed 20 Black Bengal goats as part of a rehabilitation and alternative employment programme aimed at individuals engaged in begging. This visit marked Tarique Rahman's first trip outside the capital since he assumed office as Prime Minister on February 17.
