New York:Dubai Prime Minister Tarique Rahman departed Dubai for Dhaka early Sunday after a brief six-hour layover, marking the final leg of his journey home from New York where he participated in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to United News of Bangladesh, an Emirates flight carrying Prime Minister Rahman, his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and their entourage left Dubai International Airport at 215 am (Dubai time). They are expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 830 am on Sunday.
Prime Minister Rahman reached Dubai from New York at approximately 825 pm on Saturday. He had departed New York on Friday night after concluding a five-day visit during which he attended the UNGA.
Arriving in New York on September 21, Rahman made his debut address at the General Debate on September 24. Throughout his visit, he engaged in around 30 significant bilateral and sideline meetings.
During these meetings, he discussed various issues including bilateral relations, trade and investment, economic cooperation, the Rohingya crisis, and other regional and international concerns with several heads of state, government leaders, and senior officials. He also met with UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres and World Bank President Ajay Banga.
In his address at the UNGA, Rahman introduced Bangladesh's three-R strategy, focusing on Recovery, Restoration, and Reconstruction, highlighting the country's priorities on global peace and security, climate change, sustainable development, economic cooperation, and the Rohingya crisis. Additionally, he participated in a breakfast meeting hosted by JPMorgan Chase with Wall Street representatives, where he encouraged global investors to consider investing in Bangladesh.
