Kushtia:A pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, and a pistol holster were recovered by the Special Response Battalion (SRB) from an abandoned location in Kumarkhali, Kushtia.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the recovery took place during a raid at around 8 pm in Baradi village, under Kaya Union of Kumarkhali upazila. Md Rezaul Haque, company commander and additional superintendent of police at the SRB Kushtia Camp, stated this in a press release issued Saturday night.
The operation was prompted by a tip-off leading the SRB team to raid the residence of Md Mobarak Ali, 70, in Baradi village. The weaponry was discovered in a hole in the ground inside a room.
The SRB confirmed that the pistol was part of the firearms looted from Kushtia Model Police Station on August 5, 2024, amidst the July-August mass uprising. Further legal proceedings concerning the recovered items are in progress.
Md Rezaul Haque emphasized that SRB operations aimed at maintaining law and order and retrieving illegal weapons will persist.
