Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced the government's efforts to make teaching a first-choice profession for meritorious individuals through reforms in teacher recruitment and the education system. Speaking at a ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on World Teachers' Day 2026, the Prime Minister highlighted the essential role of teachers in enhancing the dignity of the state and society.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, The Prime Minister expressed his respect for teachers at all educational levels and congratulated recipients of the national 'Eminent Teacher Award'. He emphasized the need for teachers to become role models for students and the importance of adapting education to modern technological advancements. Additionally, he mentioned the introduction of a new curriculum and the "One Teacher, One Tab" program to support teachers.
Tarique Rahman also pointed out the necessity of providing equal educational opportunities across urban and rural areas and stressed the importance of employment-oriented and morally grounded education. To support teachers, he announced plans to ensure timely salary payments and retirement benefits and emphasized the inclusion of teachers in national events. The observance of World Teachers' Day aims to recognize the significance of teachers' dignity and professional development globally.
