Dhaka: Country’s both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities. DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, declined by 24.0 points to settle at 5,424 points as against 5,448 points in the previous trading session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, market turnover also increased by 19.0% to Taka 7.4 billion from Taka 6.2 billion in the previous session. On the sectoral front, Pharma issues exerted the highest turnover at 11.2%, followed by Bank at 10.8% and Textile at 9.2%. Sectors mostly displayed dismal returns, with Travel, Textile, and Ceramic exerting the most corrections on the bourse today, while Life Insurance, IT, and Tannery exhibited some gains.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 95 advanced, 254 declined, and 48 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, however, settled in a positive zone. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) slightly advanced by 1.8 points and 10.9 points, respectively.
