President witnesses presentation of national budget for FY24

President Mohammed Shahabuddin today witnessed the presentation of the proposed national budget for 2023-24 from the 'President-Box' in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the national budget of over Taka 7.61 lakh crore for the next fiscal year (FY24) this afternoon with the main objective of turning Bangladesh into a happy-prosperous and developed ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by 2041.

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the House proceedings in presence of Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Opposition Leader in the Parliament Begun Rowshan Ershad, senior parliament members from the treasury and opposition benches were present there.

This is the country's 52nd budget and the 24th ones of the Awami League government in five terms.

This budget for FY24 is the 5th consecutive budget of the incumbent Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

The Head of the State exchanged views with the officials and employees of the Jatiya Sangsad. He spent some time in the 'President Box'.

Earlier, on his arrival at the Sangsad Bhaban, the President was received by Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Shamsul Hoque Tuku, Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury and senior officials concerned.

Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban were also present in the House during budget presentation.
