Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin today urged the Republic of Kosovo to import top-quality Readymade Garments (RMG) and pharmaceutical products at an affordable price. He made the call as the new ambassador of Kosovo to Bangladesh, Lulzim Pllana, presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, President Shahabuddin emphasized the importance of frequent visit-exchanges and interactions between the chambers of commerce and industries of the two countries to enhance trade and investment. He also recalled the significant contributions of Bangladesh Peacekeepers in the Kosovo Peacekeeping Mission (UNMIK), emphasizing their role in maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo.
Addressing the ongoing Ukraine crisis, President Shahabuddin expressed Bangladesh’s deep concern over the war, urging all parties involved to seek a resolution through political dialogue to end the conflict. He also extended his gratitude to the Kosovo Government for opening its Diplomatic Mission in Dhaka, noting that since its establishment, Bangladesh and Kosovo have enjoyed excellent bilateral relations, as conveyed by Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam.
The President underscored the potential for expanding bilateral ties and urged Kosovo to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh for various sectors. In response, Ambassador Pllana sought the President’s cooperation in fulfilling his diplomatic assignments and expressed Kosovo’s interest in providing more educational opportunities for Bangladeshi students.
Earlier in the day, as part of the state ceremony, the ambassador was honored with a ‘guard of honour’ by the President Guard Regiment (PGR). The occasion was attended by relevant secretaries and officials.
