DHAKA, Jan 15, 2017 (BSS)-President Abdul Hamid will hold talks with Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish (BKM), Bangladesh National Awami Party (BNAP) and Gano Front (GF) tomorrow as part of his move to take opinions of political parties over formation of a new Election Commission (EC).
Bangabhaban sent letters to the address of the offices of eight political parties on 12 January inviting them for talks with President Abdul Hamid over formation of the next EC, according to President's Press secretary Joynal Abedin.
According to the Press Secretary, the President will also sit with Khelafat Majlish, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh on January 17 and Bangladesh Islami Front, Bangladesh Muslim League and Progressive Democratic Party on January 18.
President Abdul Hamid initiated the formal talks with registered political parties for the formation of EC through holding discussion with BNP on December 18 last year.
He has so far held meetings with 23 political parties, including the ruling Awami League and Jatiya Party (Ershad).
He took the dialogue initiative as the tenure of the current Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires next month.
