Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin and his wife, Dr. Rebeka Sultana, hosted a reception at Bangabhaban to commemorate the nation’s 55th Victory Day. The event, which took place on the expansive green lawn of the presidential residence, saw the attendance of approximately 7,218 guests, including 266 members from the valiant freedom fighters and families of Birshreshtha gallantry award honorees.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Justice Syed Refaat Hassan, Adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Faruk-e-Azam, and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin were among the distinguished guests. The reception also attracted ambassadors and high commissioners from various countries, Supreme Court judges, chiefs of the three military services, senior political leaders, academics, business leaders, artists, and members of the media, both from civil and military sectors.
A notable highlight of the event was President Shahabuddin, accompanied by the Chief Justice, the Liberation War Affairs adviser, the CEC, and the chiefs of the three services, cutting a celebratory cake at the VVIP Enclosure. The President took the opportunity to exchange greetings with injured freedom fighters and the assembled guests, marking a moment of unity and reflection on the nation’s historical achievements.
