Chattogram District Senior Election Officer Md. Security measures have been heightened, with areas around the Ctg district stadium being secured since Saturday for election preparations and result announcements. Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Mohammad Zahidul Islam Meah emphasized their commitment to conducting the polls in line with public expectations.

Officials involved in the election process are working diligently under the supervision of the EC Secretariat to ensure a fair election. A total of 115 executive magistrates, along with judicial magistrates, will oversee the election process, supported by Ansars and police officers equipped with body cameras at key centers. The Returning Officer expressed hope for a safe voting experience for all voters.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Mohammed Ziauddin reported that the election atmosphere remains satisfactory, with no significant allegations of rule violations. He expressed confidence in the absence of any untoward incidents, attributing this to effective law enforcement efforts and the recovery of illegal weapons in the port city.

In total, 66,82,517 eligible voters, comprising 34,83,877 males, 31,98,570 females, and 70 registered as third gender, are expected to participate in the elections. The election will see 115 candidates vying for positions, with 1,965 presiding officers, 12,595 assistant presiding officers, and 29,165 polling officers on duty.

Despite an increase in voter numbers, the total polling stations have decreased by 58 from the previous election, with 1,965 set up for the upcoming vote.
