Dhaka: Land Ministry Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed today emphasized that traditional knowledge alone is insufficient for progress, advocating instead for a blend of practical skills and modern knowledge as essential tools for growth. ‘The current world is changing rapidly due to technological advancement and global competition,’ he remarked during a training session on skill development for conducting audits at the Bhumi Bhaban meeting room in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ahmed highlighted the importance of audits in ensuring financial and administrative discipline within organizations, promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. He noted that effective audits require not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills and modern strategic insights.
Ahmed underscored the significance of integrating technologies like artificial intelligence, blockchain, and cloud computing in audit processes, stating that proficiency in these areas would enhance the speed, accuracy, and security of audits. He stressed the necessity of training to develop these skills and reiterated the importance of a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption.
He further explained that skill development in auditing is an ongoing process, crucial for preventing financial irregularities and ensuring the proper use of institutional and state resources. Ahmed advocated for enhancing audit officers’ skills through a combination of up-to-date training, technology reliance, and ethics, stating that an efficient audit system supports sustainable development and good governance.
The meeting, which Ahmed later presided over, also addressed the Project for Renovation and Repair (PSC) of Record Rooms at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The event saw attendance from AJM Salahuddin Nagri, Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Reforms Board, Md.
