Postal Ballots Record 80.11 Percent Turnout in 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election

Dhaka: Postal voting in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and referendum recorded an 80.11 percent turnout, according to the Election Commission (EC).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the OCV-SDI project on expatriate voter registration, stated that a total of 15,28,131 approved voters registered through the “Postal Vote BD” app. Out of these, 12,24,188 voters cast their votes, marking 80.11 percent of the approved registrants.

He further mentioned that returning officers received 11,65,592 postal ballots, representing 76.28 percent of the total votes cast. Among these, 10,73,497 ballots were accepted as valid, which accounts for 70.25 percent.

Salim Ahmad Khan also highlighted that postal ballots from 4,98,266 expatriate voters reached Bangladesh, and returning officers accepted 4,98,205 of these ballots. Additionally, returning officers received votes from 6,67,388 voters residing inside the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) System.
