Dhaka: Police today sought information from people to identify an unidentified dead body of a 60-year-old man, which is now kept at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. The man was described as wearing a white sky-blue print fatwa and a white blue check lungi, and is approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, according to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Muhammad Talebur Rahman issued the release, stating that Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station has called for public assistance in identifying the deceased. The release detailed that on January 9, 2026, at around 7:05 pm, the duty doctor at the emergency department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital declared the individual dead.
The investigating officer has prepared a post-mortem report and sent it to the Forensic Medicine Department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for an autopsy. The release urged anyone who can identify the deceased, possibly through a picture, to contact the Officer-in-Charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station at 01320040914 or the investigating officer, Sub Inspector Md Shamsujjoha Sarkar, at 01722306028.
It was noted in the release that although police have investigated the matter, they have not been able to locate any relatives of the deceased. A general diary (GD) has been filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in this regard.
