Rangpur: Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud has emphasized that police members' conduct, including their speech, behavior, movement, and performance during duty hours, should reflect professionalism.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Commissioner made these remarks while presiding over the monthly welfare meeting of RpMP held at Rangpur Metropolitan Police Lines Auditorium. The meeting covered various topics such as police welfare, honesty and dedication, discipline, people-friendly policing, health awareness, and the responsible use of social media. The Commissioner underscored the importance of refraining from online gambling and unethical financial transactions.
The Commissioner stressed that police members must work towards earning public respect by being seen as responsible individuals engaged in the service of the country and its people. He advised against indecent treatment or unnecessary use of force in law enforcement and highlighted the necessity of ensuring humane and polite behavior. Establishing people-friendly policing, he noted, is only possible through strengthening mutual trust and involvement between the police and the public.
Senior officers were encouraged to listen to junior members, providing them an opportunity to express their problems, sorrows, anger, or complaints, and resolving these through institutional and legal processes. He pointed out that good health is a valuable asset and urged police members to engage in regular exercise, walking, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, even if opportunities for regular PT-parades or sports are limited.
Commissioner Mabud warned police members against involvement in online gambling, unethical transactions, or illegal financial activities. He urged adherence to government instructions and regulations when using social media. The continuation of programs awarding certificates of appreciation and formal recognition for efficiency and dedication was also announced, as these recognitions play a positive role in the professional lives of police members.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioners of Police (Admin and Finance) Naresh Chakma, Deputy Commissioners (DC) of Police (Crime and Ops) Tofail Ahmed, Sanatan Chakraborty (DB), and Maruf Ahmed (Traffic), along with Additional DC of Police (Crime, Traffic) Shariful Alam, officers, and other police members.
