Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam emphasized the police’s commitment to serving the public. ‘People have the right to get services. Police is obliged to serve the people. Please cooperate with the police to get the desired services,’ he stated during a view-exchange meeting organized by residents of the Shahjahanpur Police Station area at Mahbub Ali Auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nazrul Islam remarked that July 36 or August 5 marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh’s context. He highlighted the young society’s potential to overcome discrimination and stressed the importance of realizing the dreams of those who sacrificed their lives in the July Movement. He called for the establishment of a new police force, bureaucratic system, politics, and ultimately a new Bangladesh.
The Additional Commissioner urged every citizen to act responsibly in their respective roles. He emphasized the importance of parents raising their children to be good citizens who respect the law, encouraging others to do the same, to create a crime-free society.
The meeting was presided over by Motijheel Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Shahriar Ali, BPM, and attended by officials from various ranks of Motijheel Division, leaders from political, social, professional, and religious organizations, heads of educational institutions, and leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the July-August mass uprising, followed by prayers for their souls.
