Dhaka: Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, announced that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ tomorrow at Bhumi Bhaban in the Tejgaon area of the capital. The inauguration will lead to the commencement of land fairs in every district and upazila across the country. The nationwide three-day event will run from May 19 to May 21.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made at a press conference held in the conference room of the Ministry of Land. State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, Senior Secretary A S M Saleh Ahmed, and Additional Secretaries Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury and Nasrin Jahan were present. The fair’s theme is ‘Citizen-friendly automated land management, secure land and prosperous future’.

The Land Minister highlighted that land services have become easier and more citizen-friendly through automation. The fair’s primary aim is to familiarize citizens with these new services and provide direct assistance. It seeks to simplify land services, increase public awareness of digital platforms, and ensure that services reach grassroots levels.

The Ministry of Land aims to offer visitors at the fair direct insights and instant services, including registration on the land portal, e-mutation applications, and online payment of land development tax. Services like acceptance of e-mutation applications and distribution of certified copies of khatian will also be available at the venue.

The press conference revealed plans for extensive publicity about the national hotline 16122 and divisional hotline 01706888787 for land service-related complaints. An informative booklet titled ‘Bhumi Amar Thikana’ will be distributed to educate the public about land services in simple terms.

The Ministry plans to introduce digital surveys, land zoning, and issuance of ownership certificates post-land purchase under government initiatives. Efforts are underway to launch unified digital registration and e-mutation via coordination between upazila land offices and sub-registry offices. Publicity is being carried out through various media, educational institutions, and religious places to ensure the fair’s success.

The event will be celebrated festively at every district and upazila level. After the inauguration, the Prime Minister will visit Bhumi Bhaban’s stalls and service centers, inspecting the call center, citizen service center, and daycare center.

Automation initiatives aim to reduce human interaction, making land services more citizen-friendly. The fair will provide services like mutation, LD tax, and khatian automation. Service seekers can apply for e-mutation, pay land development tax, and collect certified copies directly from the fair. Compensation for land acquisition will also be processed at the fair.

A unique aspect of the fair is offering land-related advice to citizens facing property issues. Advice will be available at various stalls. Direct services will also be provided at district administration stalls, upazila land offices, and land service assistance centers. The central event will see participation from ministers, advisers, secretaries, and senior officials. The fair aims to bridge the gap between the government and citizens, boosting confidence in land services.
