Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today stopped his motorcade on the elevated expressway at Karwan Bazar end in the city to make way for an ambulance. "The Prime Minister was on his way to his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat from his Gulshan residence this morning. A little before 9:00 am, the Prime Minister's motorcade was moving from the Banani Expressway toward the FDC intersection at Karwan Bazar," said Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister noticed an ambulance blaring its siren and attempting to pass his motorcade. Recognizing the urgency, he instructed the security officials in the convoy to make way for the ambulance. Following his instruction, the officials promptly cleared the path for the emergency vehicle.
Describing the incident, Ruman stated that by making way for an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient, the Prime Minister demonstrated a notable example of responsibility. Suman Ahmed, a passenger in a private car near Karwan Bazar, observed the event from behind the Prime Minister's motorcade and shared that all vehicles stopped to allow the ambulance to pass.
Suman noted that this was an unprecedented action for a head of government or state in the country. He expressed that such a display of responsibility and compassion by Tarique Rahman sends a meaningful message for everyone.
