Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today stressed adopting innovative and sustainable production methods for survival in competitive global market, saying consumers are now far more aware than before.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister emphasized that consumers today are more informed, considering not only product quality but also the ethics of production, social responsibility, and environmental impact. He highlighted the necessity of adopting innovative and sustainable production methods to remain competitive in the international marketplace. This message was delivered on the eve of the World Accreditation Day 2026.

The Prime Minister remarked that World Accreditation Day serves as an annual reminder of the importance of safety, quality, and trust in the products and services used in daily life. He noted that the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) observe June 9 each year as World Accreditation Day. The theme for this year is ‘Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation,’ which he described as highly significant and timely.

Rahman further explained that in today’s world, innovation, trust, and sustainable development are crucial and interconnected elements of economic progress. The initiative by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB), under the Ministry of Industries, to observe World Accreditation Day 2026, is both timely and commendable.

Accreditation, he noted, is an internationally recognized quality assurance mechanism that verifies the quality of products and services based on established standards. He emphasized that accreditation is not merely a certificate or recognition but a powerful tool to maintain the country’s industrial sector’s competitiveness globally.

Through accreditation, BAB is enhancing the acceptability and trustworthiness of Bangladeshi products and services in the global market. So far, BAB has granted accreditation certificates to 168 government, private, and multinational institutions in Bangladesh. These activities are conducted under five sector-based schemes according to international standards.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that World Accreditation Day 2026 would further bolster the country’s quality infrastructure and accelerate the journey toward innovation and sustainable development. He wished for the successful observance of World Accreditation Day 2026.
