Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday expressed deep shock at the death of Sheuli Parveen, an August 21 grenade victim and a Dhaka city Mohila Awami League leader.
In a condolence message, the premier recalled her contribution to the party and said Sheuli Parveen was seriously injured in the August 21 grenade attack while taking part in the Awami League rally in the capital.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sheuli Parveen, who was seriously injured in the grisly grenade attack on the Awami League rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on August 21 in 2004, died today at the age of 65. She had also been suffering from cancer.
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina visited United Hospital on Sept 10 to see the condition of Sheuli Parveen, a former vice- president of Cantonment Thana Mohila Awami League in Dhaka.
Twenty-four leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies including the then Mahila AL president Ivy Rahman, also wife of late President Zillur Rahman, were killed and over 500 others suffered splinter injuries in the attack.
