Dhaka: The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has committed to serving 25 million low-income families across the country by 2030. Currently, they are providing a wide range of financial and non-financial services to over 20 million low-income families through more than 200 Partner Organizations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information was revealed at an event marking the PKSF’s 35th anniversary celebration, held today at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event, dubbed ‘PKSF Day 2025’, was used to reflect on PKSF’s contributions to poverty alleviation over the past three and a half decades and to launch its strategic plan for 2025-2030.
The anniversary celebration began with the release of pigeons and the cutting of a cake. It was presided over by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, while Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader delivered the welcome speech. In his speech, Kader noted that the Government of Bangladesh established PKSF in 1990, and over the past 35 years, the foundation has successfully implemented various programs aimed at sustainable poverty alleviation.
Md Fazlul Kader highlighted PKSF’s global standing, stating, ‘According to the World Bank, we are the largest microenterprise-financier in the world.’ The foundation is also accredited by the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund as the National Implementing Entity, which recognizes its effectiveness, transparency, and good governance practices.
PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan described the foundation as a beacon of inspiration for institutions across Bangladesh. He acknowledged PKSF’s significant contributions to poverty alleviation through employment generation and urged officials to commit to the successful implementation of the new strategic plan.
Under the Chairman’s leadership, PKSF recently formulated its Strategic Plan 2025-2030 in response to emerging needs. The plan aims to create decent employment, mitigate risks, and enhance capacities. Khan expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh, international development partners, Partner Organizations, grassroots members, and all stakeholders for their support.
Managing Director Kader noted that although this year’s anniversary was observed in a humble manner, it holds deep significance as it marks the beginning of the Strategic Plan’s implementation. He expressed hope that by 2030, upon the Plan’s successful completion, the anniversary will be celebrated in a grand manner.
The event also featured speeches by Deputy Managing Directors AQM Golam Mawla, Md Mashiar Rahman, Md Hasan Khaled, and Dr. Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam. PKSF officials from all levels participated in an open discussion titled ‘Our Commitment,’ underscoring their dedication to PKSF’s mission and objectives.
