Dhaka: The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has sanctioned an additional Tk 100 crore to bolster its water and sanitation initiatives, bringing the total allocation for this sector in the current fiscal year to Tk 427.26 crore. This decision was made during the 264th meeting of PKSF's Governing Body.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the new allocation is set to support national efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-6, which focuses on ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

In the same meeting, an additional Tk 500 crore was approved for the development of the microenterprise sector, raising the total funding for microenterprises in the current fiscal year to Tk 5,741.57 crore. PKSF officials indicated that its Partner Organisations are expected to supplement this allocation with supplementary funds from their own internal and external sources. This combined financing is anticipated to enable grassroots-level disbursement amounting to nearly 20 times the PKSF-allocated amount.

The augmented support is anticipated to enhance the capabilities of micro-entrepreneurs, generate employment opportunities, and inject further momentum into local economies across the country. The meeting, held at PKSF Bhaban-2 in Shyamoli, was presided over by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan with several Governing Body members and PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader in attendance.
