Dhaka: People are returning to their workplaces smoothly after the four-day Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, with no traffic congestion reported on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highways. Police and officials familiar with the traffic management system have confirmed the smooth flow of traffic on the 104-kilometer stretch of the highway in the Cumilla area, one of the busiest in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the police, in collaboration with the army and voluntary organizations, have been actively working to ensure safety and manage traffic effectively before and after Eid. Highway Cumilla Region Police Superintendent Md Khairul Alam stated that their efforts, along with those of other forces, have made the movement of people before and after Eid easy, surpassing previous records.

Authorities are conducting regular operations to prevent road accidents, control vehicle speeds, ban three-wheelers, and maintain law and order on the highway. Traffic rule violations are being addressed with daily cases and fines. Additionally, law enforcement agencies have removed illegal structures along the highway to facilitate smoother traffic flow.

The Dhaka-Chattogram highway, from the toll plaza of the Daudkandi Meghna-Gomti Bridge in Cumilla to Amjader Bazar in Chauddagram, features 12 hotspots that are being closely monitored. Offices, including government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous, are set to reopen tomorrow after a nine-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims.

Travelers have expressed satisfaction with the current traffic conditions. Shams Tabriz, a resident of Dhaka’s Chawkbazar area, shared that despite leaving home early anticipating traffic jams, he reached Dhaka in just one and a half hours. Kasedul Haque Chowdhury, another passenger, reported reaching Dhaka from Cumilla in two hours without any discomfort.

Mujib Mia, a worker for Asia Paribahan, noted the high demand for transportation, stating that all vehicles leaving Cumilla for Dhaka are fully occupied, yet no extra fare is being charged.
