Dhaka: A prestigious ceremony honoring the best air personnel and MODC (Air) of 2023 took place at the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) headquarters today. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan presided over the event as the chief guest, distributing medals, trophies, and certificates to the recipients, as per the statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the peacetime award ceremony is an annual tradition that recognizes the gallantry and courageous activities of serving officers, airmen, and MODC (Air) personnel within the BAF. This year, a total of 39 BAF officers and air personnel received accolades for their outstanding performance in 2023.

A poignant moment of the event was the posthumous awarding of the Biman Bahini Padak (BBP) to late Squadron Leader Muhammad Asim Jawwad, in recognition of his immense bravery and skill. The award was presented to his wife and mother, highlighting his significant contributions.

In addition to the medals, trophies and certificates were awarded to six selected best airmen and MODC (Air) personnel for their exceptional contributions. The ISPR release further detailed these honors.

During his speech, the air chief congratulated all the award recipients, emphasizing that the recognition of their valorous and courageous acts would serve as an inspiration for others in the future.

The ceremony was attended by Principal Staff Officers of BAF, Air Officer Commanding of Bases/Units, directors of the Air headquarters, senior officers, and invited guests from various bases.
