Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today called upon the owners of the readymade garment (RMG) industry to pay the Eid bonus of the workers within May and their salary by June 3. “The (Eid) bonus of the RMG workers have to be paid within May and salary from June 1 to 3,” he emphasized during a press briefing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser spoke to journalists following a meeting on law and order ahead of Eid-ul-Azha at his ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat. He urged the RMG owners to address the rational demands of the workers, ensuring timely payment of bonuses and salaries.
Lieutenant General Chowdhury also issued a warning, stating that strict legal action would be taken if anyone takes to the streets with demands that aren’t logical. This statement underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring the rights of workers are met during this critical period.
