Paturia: Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River remained suspended from the early hours on Sunday due to poor visibility as dense fog blanketed the river route, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat sources said. Deputy General Manager (DGM) BIWTC Paturia Ghat Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury confirmed that ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route had been suspended since 1 a.m. Sunday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, ferries including Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin, Hasna Hena, Shah Poran, and Faridpur are currently waiting at Paturia Ghat, loaded with vehicles and passengers. Meanwhile, ferries Bir Shrestha Motiur Rahman, Bhasha Shaheed Dr. Golam Maula, Keramat Ali, and Bonolota are stationed at Daulatdia Ghat, with two additional ferries anchored in the middle of the Padma.
The suspension of services is not limited to Paturia-Daulatdia; the Aricha-Kazirhat ferry services are also on hold due to the dense fog. BIWTC Aricha Ghat sources have indicated that ferry movement will resume as soon as the fog clears.
