Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting Chairman Tarique Rahman expressed openness to the emergence of new political parties, emphasizing the importance of democratic practices in Bangladesh. Speaking virtually at a discussion organized by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on its 46th founding anniversary, Rahman underscored BNP's commitment to multi-party democracy and electoral processes. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman reiterated BNP's stance on supporting democratic initiatives for the state's interest, stressing that new political parties could be formed without concern. Addressing the event at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Dhaka, he emphasized the significance of public opinion in accepting or rejecting political parties through elections. He urged citizens to maintain faith in the Election Commission and encouraged BNP leaders and workers to remain vigilant against misinformation. Rahman recalled the sacrifices made by JCD activists during the Jul y uprising, urging students and youth to advocate for reforms in the state system. He highlighted the role of young people in societal change and cautioned against hasty decisions that could undermine mass aspirations. Addressing Chhatra Dal leaders and workers, he emphasized the importance of education alongside public welfare activities. The discussion saw participation from BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and former JCD leaders. The event, attended by numerous leaders and activists of the BNP's student wing, featured slogans in support of Tarique Rahman and highlighted BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's legacy. JCD's inception on January 1, 1979, by former President Ziaur Rahman, was also commemorated during the event.
