Dhaka: Chief Coordinator of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, MP, today stated that all necessary steps will be undertaken to ensure smooth travel for passengers during the upcoming Eid. “Any kind of passenger harassment centring the Eid journey will not be tolerated. Extortion and collection of excessive fares in the transport sector will be strictly suppressed,” he emphasized during his address.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the lawmaker was speaking at a joint meeting of the central committee of Sramik Dal, Dhaka North and South city units, and basic trade unions held at the organisation’s central office in Naya Paltan in the capital this afternoon. Shimul Biswas assured that no leader or activist of Sramik Dal will engage in unethical activities and they will prevent others from doing so. “If any allegation of unethical activities is found against anyone, immediate organisational action will be taken,” he warned.
The Sramik Dal leader highlighted that recruitment in the country’s industries and factories has remained suspended for a long time and urged for filling those vacant posts to create employment opportunities. He also mentioned the present democratic government’s commitment to ensuring recruitment to these posts on the basis of merit.
The meeting, which was chaired by Sramik Dal President Anwar Hossain and conducted by the organisation’s Publicity and Publication Secretary Manjurul Islam Manjur, also discussed the progress of ongoing organisational tours aimed at further strengthening Sramik Dal. Other speakers included Sramik Dal leaders Faez Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Babul, Mofidul Islam Mohan, Delwar Hossain, and Nasrin Akter Dina.
