Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Biswo Prakash Sharma highlighted the need to amend the Constitution with a provision that the second and third large parties will not be able to form the government after the upcoming 2084 BS elections.

At the greetings and tea reception hosted by the NC Jhapa-Kathmandu Relations Committee on the occasion of Bada Dashain, Deepawali, Nepal Sambat and Chhath festivals, he viewed provisions allowing the party securing top popular votes to form the government, even if no majority, should be specified in the constitution.

General Secretary Sharma said, “It is necessary to find a stable Prime Minister to propel stable politics. The constitution needs to be amended to produce a PM with stability, he argued.

Also speaking on the occasion, former general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula stressed the need for bringing the political parties towards a consensus spirit rather than engaging in blame game. “It is also possible in the future as NC has already demonstrated
policy leadership which is visible in history”, he said.

The idea of Marxism and Leninism cannot work to pursue the interest of Nepal, he asserted. “We need to show courage to stand on our own soil and lead a sovereign nation on our own”, he said.

Literary writer Krishna Dharawasi stressed the need to adopt the views of the founding leaders to strengthen the party organization and move forward ideologically.
