Kathmandu: Activist Bishnu Maya Pariyar was prized with this year's Karmayogi Badri Pahadi Samajsewa Puraskar. Human Rights and Peace Society honoured Pariyar for her contributions to the areas of human rights and social justice. The prize carries a purse of Rs 110,000. Based in the United States, Pariyar has received several honours and prizes at home and abroad for her 25 years of relentless contributions to the human rights movement. After getting the prize, Pariyar said this prize was special for her. The Founder Chairwoman of the Association for Dalit Women's Advancement of Nepal, Pariyar earned her higher degree from Clark University in the United States. Pariyar is featured in a school curriculum in the Massachusetts State of the United States of America. The government school curriculum for grade 7 in Massachusetts incorporates a chapter about Pariyar. Source: National News Agency RSS
