Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas arrives tomorrow afternoon

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2017 (BSS) - Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive on a three-day official visit here by a special flight tomorrow afternoon.

"President Md. Abdul Hamid will receive him at Hazrat Shahjalal (Rah.) at about 5 pm tomorrow," a source of Bangabhaban told BSS today.

Earlier, an official release of the foreign ministry said the Palestinian President is scheduled to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War by placing wreath at Savar Mausoleum.

Abbas will also place wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of the Bangabandhu Museum of Dhanmondi.

The Palestinian President will make a courtesy call on President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and some senior political leaders during the visit.

Palestine President would exchange views on different bilateral, regional and international issues.

It is expected that a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between two countries on the formation of ministerial-level joint-commission, the release added.

The visiting Palestinian delegation include Foreign Minister Dr Riad Al Maliki, Chief Justice Mahmud Al-Habbash, President's Spokesman Aburudainah, Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs and International Relations Dr. Majdi Al-Khalidi and some other civil and military officials.

Later, the Palestine President will also attend a dinner to be hosted by President Hamid at Bangabhaban day after tomorrow.

The Palestine President will conclude his three-day visit to Bangladesh on February 3.
