Geneva: Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain has paid a courtesy call on Pakistan's Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting took place amidst the 353rd session of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which Dr Hossain is attending.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, an official release detailed that discussions between the two leaders covered a wide range of topics including mutual interests, tourism potential, expansion of trade, training and skill exchange, and enhancing connectivity via waterways and air routes. They also explored cooperation in culture and sports, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties.
Both parties concurred on the possibility of signing bilateral agreements to address these issues. The adviser extended an invitation to the Pakistani delegation to visit Bangladesh at the earliest opportunity to further these discussions.
The meeting was attended by AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and a representative from the Bangladesh Mission in Geneva.
