Dhaka: Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to pay an official visit to Bangladesh this month, a move confirmed by Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hossain informed reporters at the foreign ministry that the date for Ishaq Dar's visit will be confirmed in the coming days. During discussions with his Pakistani counterpart, the focus will be on exploring all aspects of the bilateral relationship.
Prior to Ishaq Dar's visit, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka in the third week of April. Her visit aims to foster talks with Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin. Dar's visit will be significant as it marks the first time a Pakistani Foreign Minister has visited Bangladesh since 2012.
In addition to the Pakistani delegation, a high-level US delegation is also expected in Bangladesh. US Deputy Assistant Secretary on the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Nicole Ann Chulick and Deputy Assistant Secretary on the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Andrew R. Herrup will arrive next week. The foreign adviser mentioned that the discussions with the United States will cover all dimensions of the bilateral relationship.
