Dhaka: An agreement has been signed between the owners and workers of Nassa Group factories to resolve the issue of unpaid wages and benefits. The agreement was signed on Tuesday at a tripartite meeting held at the conference room of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) in the Labour Building.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement aligns with the decisions made during the 13th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on labour and business conditions in the industries of Beximco Industrial Park. This meeting, chaired by Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain, took place on September 16.

Per the agreement, factory authorities are committed to paying the outstanding wages and allowances for August by October 15 and for September by October 30. Additionally, workers will receive service benefits equating to 30 days of basic wages for each full year of employment. Maternity benefits will be paid according to the Bangladesh Labour Act.

All lawful dues owed to the workers are to be cleared by November 30. The agreement also ensures that no worker will be blacklisted in any internet or database system. Representatives from the workers, factory management, the government, and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) signed the memorandum of understanding to address the labour unrest in Nassa Group.
