Over 400 Blankets Distributed to Cold-Stricken Residents in Chitalmari

Chitalmari: Over 400 blankets have been distributed among the poor and cold-stricken residents, including orphans, in Chitalmari upazila as part of an initiative by the local administration to combat the rising severity of winter.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution event took place on Monday afternoon at the upazila premises. It is part of the government’s ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts. The blankets were allocated to several orphanages, madrasas, and needy individuals. Beneficiaries included Baraguni Medinatul Ulum Orphanage, Santoshpur Battola Noorani Kebatia Orphanage, and several other institutions catering to orphans and the underprivileged.



Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Sajjad Hossain formally distributed the blankets. During the event, he emphasized the government’s moral and social responsibility to support the underprivileged in society. He highlighted that the distribution of winter clothing is a continuous effort by the government to aid those in need, with plans to continue such initiatives in the future.



He also called upon affluent members of society to assist in alleviating the hardships faced by those affected by the cold. Present at the event were Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mithun Moitra, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Ferdous Ansari, and other officials from the upazila administration.



The initiative has provided much-needed relief and brought smiles to the faces of the recipients, offering them comfort during the harsh winter conditions.
