Lakshmipur: Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie on Saturday accused the opposition of adopting an uncooperative stance from the outset, suggesting that this has enabled certain groups to attempt a comeback in December.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Annie made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a free medical camp, eye clinic, and medicine distribution program held at Zillur Rahim College in the Mandari area under Chandraganj upazila of Lakshmipur. He alleged that the opposition has consistently obstructed government operations, citing their absence during the oath-taking ceremony as a sign of their non-cooperation.
The event was organized by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Lakshmipur district unit and Lions International District 315 A-3. Annie emphasized that the opposition's actions, such as organizing long marches, have inadvertently provided opportunities for groups that oppressed the nation for 17 years to regain ground.
Annie further questioned the feasibility of restoring all gas and electricity supplies within a short period, highlighting the challenges faced by the government. Several notable figures, including District BNP Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman, Noakhali Civil Surgeon Dr. Anwar Hossain, Chandraganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin Nipa, and Chandraganj Upazila BNP President Belal Hossain, were present at the event.
