Chandraganj: Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee has asserted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is committed to standing by the people not just during election periods but every day of the year. Speaking as the chief guest at a free medical and eye camp with medicine distribution at Mandari Zillur Rahim College in Chandraganj upazila of Lakshmipur, Anee emphasized the consistent support of BNP for the populace.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized collaboratively by the district unit of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) and Lions International District 315 A-3. Anee stressed the importance of focusing on healthcare for children, women, and the elderly, urging both government and private sectors, along with social organizations, to extend healthcare services to underserved communities.
The minister also addressed criticisms from the opposition, highlighting their contradictory statements inside and outside parliament. He pointed out their protests about gas and oil issues while reminding them of the inherited challenges from past administrations. "We took responsibility on top of a pile of ruins. It will take a reasonable amount of time to resolve the mess of the past 17 years," he remarked.
Furthermore, Anee praised the DAB's efforts in providing healthcare to the needy, assuring that the free medical camp was well-equipped with doctors and medicines. He mentioned that patients requiring advanced treatment would be sent to Dhaka if necessary. The program delivered specialized healthcare services, eye examinations, medical consultations, and essential medicines to the impoverished and underserved in the local area.
The event was attended by DAB President Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid, Secretary General Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil, along with other physicians, volunteers, and local dignitaries.
